Key West homes63 viewshomes in Key West are very distinctive. Shutters of course to guard against the high winds. Some Windows are actually installed directly under porch roofs so that they provide air for rooms but are completely hidden and sheltered by the roof. Many houses have this ornate fencing which was bought cheap at auctions of goods from shipwrecks. Wrecking (salvaging) was big business in Key West until lighthouses and other safety measures made shipping safer.
